the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Duration: 1 hour
Target audience: Disability rights organizations, municipalities, LSS personnel, study associations, individuals

People with disabilities have the right to participate in society and live an independent life. Support for individuals and society as a whole should be designed in a way that enables individuals to live like others.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 2006. Since 2009, Sweden is legally bound by the convention. The purpose of the convention is to strengthen the protection of human rights for people with disabilities.
The state, municipalities, and regions have a shared responsibility to uphold the convention.

In my lectures, I discuss what the UN Convention is, its history, its content, and its purpose.
